Behind the Workshop Door

The Story of SGO Leathercraft

Sketch It. Measure It. Build It.

Every creation begins with an idea.

Sometimes it's something practical. Sometimes it's inspired by centuries-old craftsmanship. And occasionally, it's something that probably should have remained safely locked away in the imagination.

Welcome to SGO Leathercraft.

My name is Simon, and I'm the craftsman behind this small independent leatherworking business in Worcestershire, England.

Within my workshop, traditional leatherworking meets a fascination with history, Gothic design, folklore and the wonderfully unconventional.

From hand-crafted leather tankards and historical accessories to rugged bags, unusual hats and darker creations, every piece has its own character.

I have always believed that leather should tell a story.

A scar, a crease, a weathered edge or an unusual grain isn't necessarily an imperfection. Sometimes it's precisely what gives a piece its soul.

I'm particularly drawn to working with reclaimed leather and offcuts, finding new possibilities in materials that others might overlook.

My workshop is a place of constant experimentation, where traditional hand tools sit alongside vintage sewing machines and modern technology.

Some ideas become practical everyday companions.

Others become something rather more curious.

Every finished leather piece offered for sale is made by my own hands. I don't mass-produce, and I don't operate a factory. What you see is the result of imagination, patience, experimentation and a genuine love of making things.

SGO Leathercraft is still growing, and new creations will continue to emerge from the workshop as ideas become reality.

Thank you for stepping through the door.

I hope you find something here that speaks to you.
